Why is CRPT and Chestny Znak registration required?
Before a company exporting to Russia can bring its products into the mandatory labelling scheme, it must register on the Chestny Znak (Честный ЗНАК) platform. The system is operated by CRPT (ЦРПТ — the Centre for Research in Advanced Technologies). Without registration you cannot order codes, put them into production or file reports.
Company registration, step by step
- Electronic signature (UKEP): obtaining a qualified electronic signature in the name of an authorised person.
- Platform registration: defining the company and its role (manufacturer / importer) via Chestny Znak and GS1 RUS.
- Product catalogue: registering your products in the national catalogue with their GTINs.
- Roles and permissions: granting the rights to order codes and submit reports.
- Testing and validation: placing a first code order and testing the whole flow.
Common mistakes
- Starting the electronic-signature process too late — it can take weeks.
- Declaring the wrong company role (importer instead of manufacturer, or the reverse).
- Missing or incorrect GTIN mapping in the product catalogue.
