What Is a DataMatrix Code and How Is It Used in Chestny Znak?

What is DataMatrix?

DataMatrix is a two-dimensional (2D) barcode that fits a large amount of data into a small area. The Chestny Znak (Честный ЗНАК) system uses it to identify every single product unit, because it reads reliably even on a small label and carries error correction.

What a Chestny Znak code contains

  • GTIN: the international number identifying the product.
  • Serial number: the unique sequence that separates one unit from another.
  • Verification key and code: the cryptographic elements that make counterfeiting detectable.

Why print grade is critical

However correctly the code is generated, it will not scan if the print quality is poor. Code quality is graded A to F under the ISO/IEC standards. A low grade means returns, rejection at the border and failed reporting. The right print resolution, contrast and quiet zone are all mandatory.

A practical approach at volume

Preparing codes one by one for hundreds or thousands of units is not sustainable. Our bulk labelling solutions take your product data as a CSV and produce print-ready DataMatrix labels at the correct grade, cutting both the error rate and the labour.
